Garcia has prolonged her winning streak after defeating No.12 Coco Gauff 6-3, 6-4 in the quarterfinals to make it to the first major semifinal of her career. Next, she will play No.5 Tunisian Ons Jabeur.
The won quarterfinals turned out to be Garcia’s first quarterfinal since 2017. And now, she bids to become the first Frenchwoman since 2005 to enter the US Open final stage and the first since 2013 to win a Grand Slam singles title. She joins Amelie Mauresmo and Mary Pierce to be the third Frenchwoman to play US Open Semifinals.
Speaking on her victory, Garcia shared: "It was a very intense match. Every point, every game was really tough.”
She said that she was pleased with her performance and happy to continue her journey to the title.
Last winter, Garcia partnered with a new coach Betrand Perret, who previously trained Ons Jabeur, Tatjana Maria and others, as well as with physiotherapist Laura Legoupil. Since welcoming the specialists to her team, Garcia has greatly improved her mentality and playing techniques.
“I was practicing to be aggressive, to move forward, but I had some issues doing it on the court in matches—that's where it changed, really in the second set of that first round.”

Garcia shows so far the best performance in women’s tennis leading all players in the percentage of games won (94), winners (116) and forehand winners (54).
However, in the next round, she faces Ons Jabeur who earlier this year made it to the Wimbledon final, eventually losing to Elena Rybakina in the battle for the title.
